Honoring 50 Years, Wendy Clayton

Honoring 50 Years, Wendy Clayton

Fifty years is a significant milestone for anyone, especially when it comes to a work anniversary, which is almost unheard of these days. In an era of frequent job changes, we would like to honor one remarkable individual, Wendy Clayton, who has demonstrated fifty years of loyalty to Michel Sales Company and Superior Pump.

Wendy Clayton began her journey in 1975 as a receptionist. According to Chip Michel, the grandson of  the founder of Michel Sales Company, “Wendy was so shy that she was afraid to answer the phones,” making the receptionist position a fitting choice for her.

Wendy overcame her shyness and revealed her passion for ensuring that people are well taken care of. She eagerly took on advancing roles within the customer service department, eventually becoming the manager. “Wendy has a natural way of making customers feel special. With her follow-up and follow-through, customers always knew they were in good hands with Wendy,” said Charlie Michel, President of Pedrollo Group USA.

During her time at the company, Wendy witnessed many changes, including the evolution from a representative agency to a manufacturer, as well as the introduction of computers into all operations. She led the onboarding for these new technologies and soon became the go-to person for creating ‘fancy stuff’ at the time, spreadsheets and PowerPoint presentations. We chuckle at the notion today, but she pioneered this transformative shift and happily took time to train her colleagues, offering tips and tricks while demonstrating the new systems from her “house-built” training stool.

Wendy was the glue that held the customer service department together, providing the personalized service that the company is now known for. “Wendy was always willing to give her time to help others, both internally and externally. For many of our customers, she is the voice they associate with our company. She is kind, always caring, and ready to go above and beyond for anyone,” said Buck Kluender, Customer Service Director of Pedrollo Group USA.

Chip Michel recalls a sticker that adorned Wendy’s cubicle, when she first started: “I’ve been lied to, kicked, beaten up, but I think I’ll stick around to see what happens next.”  That’s exactly what Wendy did, and fifty years later, we are celebrating her commitment to this organization.

We deeply appreciate her dedication and her influence in shaping our customers’ expectations. We are all excited for your ‘next’ Wendy, and we wish you nothing but the best.
